Questions & answers
Everything guests usually ask about the house, booking, and the beach. Don't see your question? Just ask.
The house
Where is Over the Dunes?
Over the Dunes is at 36B Taylor Avenue on White Horse Beach, in the Manomet village of Plymouth, Massachusetts. It's directly across the street from the beach, about an hour south of Boston.
What are my options for renting?
There are three ways to stay: the Upper Unit (sleeps 4), the Studio (sleeps 2), or the Whole House, both units together for up to 6 guests at 10% off.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
The Upper Unit spans the 2nd and 3rd floors, with a king bed in the top-floor bedroom and two single beds in the sunroom. The Studio is on the first floor with a queen bed. Each unit has its own private, keyless entry.
How close is the beach?
Just across the street. The public and private sections of White Horse Beach are a short walk from the front door.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes. Ductless mini-split heat pumps on each floor provide air conditioning and heat, and ocean breezes keep the nights comfortable.
What's provided?
Bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, and a beach bag with a blanket, plus a well-equipped kitchen, shampoo and soap, a hair dryer and iron, and starter supplies. Kids' sand toys and beach gear are shared between the units.
Is there Wi-Fi? Is it good for remote work?
Yes. The house has fast, reliable high-speed internet. We both work in IT and work from home ourselves, so the connection is set up for video calls and remote work. The TVs stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Live TV and Paramount+.
Is there laundry?
Yes. Both the Upper Unit and the Studio have laundry.
Is there parking?
Each unit has one assigned off-street parking spot, so the Whole House gets two. Street parking is restricted from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and we have guest passes available for additional vehicles that need to park on the street during the summer.
Is there outdoor space?
Yes. The Upper Unit has a private balcony off the main bedroom plus a deck sitting area off the 2nd floor with views over the dunes to the ocean. The first-floor Studio has both a front and a back deck sitting area. There's also a fenced back yard, and two grills, one for each unit.
Is it good for families?
Very. The beach is across the street, there's a fenced yard, and sand toys and board games are on hand. Ice cream at Gellar's is within walking distance.

The area
What's within walking distance?
White Horse Beach and Flag Rock are right out front, and Gellar's has been serving ice cream for over 100 years a short walk away. Manomet center, with pizza, breakfast spots and a neighborhood tavern, is a quick drive.
What is there to do nearby?
Swim, kayak, fish and watch the sunrise on the beach. Explore historic Plymouth: Plymouth Rock, the waterfront, and lobster rolls on Town Wharf. Boston is an easy day trip, or you can take the ferry across the bay to Provincetown.
Where should we eat?
A few favorites: Rose & Vicki's for pizza and subs, Stowell's Café for breakfast, Aroma Tavern & Grill in Manomet center, 42° North for a smaller seasonal menu done really well, Wood's Seafood and the Lobster Hut on the Plymouth waterfront, and Bramhall's for a lobster roll on a drive up Route 3A. Clements' Marketplace is the closest full-service grocery. We share our full list with guests before arrival.
Is there history to the area?
Plenty. White Horse Beach has been a summer gathering place for generations, once known as part of the "Irish Riviera," and Flag Rock has a story of its own. Read more on our History page.
